How to Choose a Web Design Agency in Lincolnshire

Not all web agencies are the same. Here's exactly what to look for — and what to avoid — when choosing a web design company for your Lincolnshire business.

Team reviewing a website design together

Choosing a web design agency is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your online presence. Get it right and you'll have a website that brings in new customers for years. Get it wrong and you could end up with an expensive, ineffective site you're embarrassed to share.

We're a Lincolnshire agency ourselves, so we know the landscape well. Here's an honest guide to what to look for.

Always review real, live examples of an agency's work before committing.

1. Look at their portfolio

Any agency worth hiring has a portfolio of real work. When reviewing it, look beyond the visuals:

  • Do the sites load quickly? Test them with Google PageSpeed Insights
  • Do they work well on your phone? Visit them on mobile
  • Do they feel current, not dated?
  • Is there evidence of results — not just aesthetics?

If an agency doesn't have a portfolio, or their own website looks poor, that's your answer.

2. Ask about local SEO

A beautiful website that nobody can find on Google is a waste of money. Ask any agency you're considering how they approach local SEO. They should be able to talk about:

  • Structured data (schema markup)
  • Google Business Profile integration
  • Local keyword targeting
  • On-page optimisation

Vague promises about "getting you to the top of Google" without specifics are a red flag.

3. Understand what's actually included

Web design quotes vary enormously because agencies include very different things. Before comparing prices, clarify:

  • Is hosting included, and for how long?
  • Who writes the content — you or them?
  • What about images and photography?
  • Is there a CMS so you can make updates yourself?
  • What post-launch support is included?

4. Pay attention to communication

Building a website requires ongoing back-and-forth. Before you sign anything, pay attention to how quickly and clearly the agency responds to your initial enquiry. If they're slow or vague before they have your money, imagine how they'll be once they do.

The local advantage

There are real benefits to working with a Lincolnshire-based agency. They understand the local market, they're easier to meet in person, and they have a genuine stake in local businesses doing well. That said, "local" isn't a substitute for quality — use all the criteria above regardless of where an agency is based.
